TheVoice of Women in and surrounding the Ottawa area

Published quarterly, The Voice is a collection of women’s poetry, short stories, artwork and advertising of interest to the women’s community. It will be available until the end of the summer for a small cost in various areas of the city. Although our upcoming Spring/Summer issue will be our last, our past issues will still be available for sale on this website until they have sold out, allowing us to continue our donations to various charities in and around the Ottawa area.

MORE THAN JUST A LITERARY MAGAZINE.

The Voice is a chance for writers, artists, advertisers, sponsors, literature-enthusiasts and readers of all kinds, to create a product that in turn benefits the women’s community as a whole. After operating costs, any proceeds The Voice makes will be fed back into the community; to women’s shelters, charities, yearly or one-time-only events, fundraising projects, art exhibits, and more.

WHY?

Presently, many charities and events, are supported by government grants, or very generous individuals or organizations who can afford to donate thousands of dollars, year after year. The Voice allows those who cannot donate thousands, small businesses and individuals whose ability to support is much more limited, to donate to a project whose donations will in turn go a long way. Our community, especially the women’s community and the artists communities, cannot rely on grants and monetary kindness forever. This is a way for us to help ourselves.

WHY THE WOMEN’S COMMUNITY?

Why not?

Once equality is achieved world-wide, Canada and other countries may no longer need to support women-specific issues. But the world is not there yet.

This is not a male-negative magazine. It is simply a literary magazine where women’s literature and artwork can be viewed, rewarded and enjoyed.

It in turn benefits projects, organizations and events that TOUCH the women’s community, not strictly women-only events.
